INNOVATIONS
I have been thinking about and working on many innovations for the WebTv Chat. You can see some of them at The Chat Thing. I have always wanted to find new ways of making the most of the space on these chats. The latest change I have made in pursuit of this goal is my CYCLE function. It allows you to cycle the text in a form and so allowing you to make each form input do the work of three. You can see it in operation at The Chat Thing or
You can look at my new EZ-Edit chat. My EZ-Edit format allows you to edit the pop ups with out messing with any of the JavaScript. All of the pop ups are values of hidden form inputs. This means that if you want to change the pop up all you have to do is change the value of the hidden input. You will not see the inputs on the page. But you will see them in the source code. In the source code below the chat you will see that the hidden inputs look something like this:
<form name="pop">
<input type="hidden" name="a" value= "
I'll be right back. I have alittle something to take care of. Don't go away while I'm gone OK?
">
Remember to have the values in quotes, value="this is the value and will be the message"
I have defined functions in the script which send the value of those hidden inputs as messages. So everytime you press the button that corresponds to this message, the message will be sent.. When you edit your pop ups you will also have to edit the buttons.. The button for that pop up would look something like this:
<form>
<input type="button" width=60 borderimage="file://rom/borders/buttonborder3.bif" usestyle value="BRB" onClick="brb()">
</form>
To edit the button just change value="BRB" to value="whatever". The onClick="brb()" is what calls the function that sends that BRB message. When you edit the message you dont have to change the function call.. onClick="brb()" will still send the value of that form as a message. You DO NOT have to change the names of the functions just because you change the message.
I will have more later..
